Dormitories “19” and “21” in Alley “134” on Weisin Rd. is the management center for a public-private joint venture. It was therefore named “Corrections 1921 - Old Prison 134 Operation Center.” The upper building built by Chiayi Old Prison happens to date from 1921 as well. The Chiayi Old Prison dormitories have been transformed into a wood culture workshop cluster. In addition to recreating the spatial configuration, layout, courtyard lawn, and winding paths of timber housing, smart technology is used for remote detection and control to protect against fire and theft. This was the first historic building in Taiwan to introduce a custom-built smart disaster prevention system.
