A Functional Field for Recreation, Tourism, Education, and Academic Research
The Beizitou botanical garden is located near the Cultural Center. The Botanical Garden was established in 1908 for rubber tree seedlings. Beizitou is on a flat ground, and another botanical garden set up for the same purpose, the Shanjiding Botanical Garden, is on hilly land. The two gardens simultaneously served for forestry experiments and targeted different studies. The gardens were later converted into a testing ground for tropical and subtropical forestation. As the time changes, the function of the gardens evolved to become an incubation center for forestation and landscape trees.
The Beizitou botanical garden is zoned into the plant area and the cityscape multiple-layer forest area; the former consists of four zones, featuring shrubs, vines, fragrant flowers, bamboo, and lawns, providing a multifunctional space for recreation, tourism, education, and academic research.
