A very philosophical construct~
The “Walled Paths” were constructed by Chiayi Park to create a unique aesthetic using common elements from Minnan architecture. Two platforms serve as the anchor to symbolize celestial order. Repetitions of individual elements in alternating order convey the spatial message of “seeking change in harmony.” The “Round Heaven and Square Earth” at the entrance, as well as the archways in the shape of octagons, hexagons, and circles are aligned with the rich cosmology and philosophy of life that the Han people have embraced for thousands of years.
The walls consist of short “cloud walls” that are easy to cross. “Cloud walls” are designed for people to sit, lie, walk and play on. They are therefore more than just a way of enclosing spaces, but are now like dragons turning and twisting through the sky.
