The “Vision Station” and “Community Relations Station for Elevated Railway in Chiayi City” can be found at the front of Chiayi Railway Station on the east side (formerly the Chiayi bus terminal of King Bus). The name Vision Station is a nod to how “railway stations” are a place where people gather, exchange information, and wait before departure. The building leased from King Bus was in fact once the bus terminal for Taiwan Motor Transport Company. During the renovation of the old building, the designer made a special effort to preserve the classic painted gateway displaying the message “Have a Great Trip” in its original form.
The first exhibition now being hosted at the Vision Station has the theme “Finding the Heart of the Pear City.” The exhibition covers the past and present of Chiayi Railway History, the history of Chiayi, and the planned route of the elevated railway; use of augmented reality (AR) technology allows the public to view a 3D map of the station on a tablet.
Vision Station is also the community relations station for Chiayi City’s elevated railway project. The exhibition content will continue to be updated to reflect the latest progress from the design and construction of railway viaducts. Public forums, information sessions and workshops will also be held.
All city residents are invited to visit the “Vision Station” to learn about the past and present of Chiayi Railway Station, and take part in a journey into the city’s past and imagine Chiayi’s future.
