J18 - Chiayi City Historical Relic Museum
Cultural and historical monuments
4586 UpdatedDate:111-01-20

Built in 1943 (the 18th year of the Showa era), this place is an elegant building consisting of two Japanese-style “Shoin-zukuri” that were used as the guest hall and administration office of the Chiayi Shrine during the period of Japanese rule. The guest hall was where one would fast in preparation of going to the shrine for worship, and the administration office was responsible for handling the routine administration of the shrine. This place is meditative and elegant in a historical and humanistic manner. It is indeed a snapshot of the contemporary history of Taiwan.
